Interesting Fact: I was voted class tree hugger in high school.Hometown: Red Wing, MNEducation: Bachelor of Science, Biology summa cum laude - University of Minnesota Twin Cities; Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.Residency: University of Minnesota Medical Center (Hospital)I have always found joy and fulfillment in making personal connections with people. I chose to pursue dentistry as a profession as it allowed me to continually learn while helping people thrive. Dentistry is much more than working on teeth or gums. It is a discipline, where both the process and outcomes are important. One highlight of my career was my residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Over the course of two years, I trained and functioned as a hospital based dentist while practicing a fullscope of general dentistry. I gained significant experience caring for patients with complex medical problems including head and neck cancer undergoing surgery and chemoradiation, organ transplants, bone marrow transplants and bleeding disorders. Additionally, I treated patients with special needs in an operating room setting. Throughout this experience, I gained a great appreciation for multidisciplinary care and oral health - systemic health connection.
Favorite Activities: Hiking, running, reading and hanging out with my family. Interesting Fact: I ran the Twin Cities Marathon (Minnesota) the same weekend as I took my dental boards exams.Hometown: Bloomington, MNEducation: Bachelor of Science, Biology - University of Minnesota Twin Cities; Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
Chelsea and Mike met at the University of Minnesota at their dental school interview, and were engaged at Artist's Point in Grand Marais, MN. They high-fived when they found out they were having a girl (though Chelsea knew all along) and went into labor with baby girl Willa at a Jack Johnson concert.
Chelsea loves running, spin, yoga, cooking and coffee. If she was not a dentist she would be working at Starbucks as a barista. Mike is into skiing, mountain biking, and fly fishing. He also leads outdoor expeditions for the Red Wing Environmental Learning Center. They both rode their bikes to dental school, uphill, both ways, all year long... even in the winter. And, they are both left handed and in their right minds as far as we know.
Favorite Activities: Hiking, camping, baking with her two sons and her Bernese mountain dog, Libby. Fun Fact: AKA "Mama bear"; Once upon a time, she owned her own bakery.
